November 2018

This is the club’s 3rd Mixtape. It was featured as our November ROTM. This unique compilation album features a few of our favorite songs from this year, pressed on half & half clear/blue vinyl. It holds songs from artists like Ben Rector, Drew and Ellie Holcomb, Lori McKenna, CAAMP, and several more amazing artists. See the full tracklist below!

LP includes exclusive tracklist and complete download card.

This month’s box also came with a note from our curator, Drew Holcomb.

From the curator, Drew Holcomb…

Hello friends. We are thrilled to send you the annual Magnolia Mixtape! This is a place we can feature a bunch of artists, some we know you already love, and some you be new to. Here is a snapshot of each song on the record.

Side A:

“I Will Always Be Yours” – Ben Rector. Ben is an old friend and one of the most successful independent artists in the world. He writes honest, musical piano pop straight from the heart. This is a classic love song.

“Silver Lining” – Mt. Joy is a band from Philadelphia and “Silver Lining” topped the AAA radio charts this year. This is a big anthem of youthful exploration.

“Light As Anything” – Cory Wong feat. Robbie Wolfsohn. This is a modern R&B jam by one of my favorite guitar players making music right now. He is in the modern supergroup Vulfpeck and here he shows his chops.

“You and Me” – Drew and Ellie Holcomb. This guy! and his wife! (its me and and my wife). This is our single from early this year, first time for it to be on vinyl.

“People Get Old” – Lori McKenna. A native Bostonian, Lori is a legendary and multi-Grammy winning songwriter. This song is from her brand new album and is probably one of my most played songs of the year.

Side B:

“The Floor Is Lava (I’m Dancin’!)” – Sunbears. This is Jonathan Berlin’s band. Jonathan is a multi-instrumentalist, sideman for Johnnyswim, and owner of a vinyl production company, VINYLRP.  This song is a big Prince-esque dance anthem. Love his voice!

“A Week Ago” – Wild Rivers. A Toronto duo, this duet is a feel good, hit the road song. Catch them on tour in the Northeast this month and next!

“Dancing In The Street” – Stephen Day. This young blue-eyed soul singer is the talk of the town in Nashville right now. He has a silk smooth voice and great songwriting instincts.

“So Cool” – CAAMP. These Athens, OH natives blew the crowd away last year at our Moon River Music Festival. High hopes and no reservations, that is their credo, and looking at their millions of Spotify listens and tour schedule, it seems like the sky is the limit.

“Sober” – Joy Oladokun. This confessional barn burner about love and sobriety is a song I keep coming back to. Such a believable voice and deep grooves in the song. I think Joy is a bright star.
