In August 2021, Magnolia joined in celebrating 20 years of music made under the Dualtone label, and our members got a one-of-a-kind compilation on exclusive camo vinyl! The collaborative project featured Dualtone artists past and present such as The Lumineers, Mt. Darlingside – Fish Pond Fish

October 2020’s Record of the Month is the newest album from Darlingside, Fish Pond Fish, on exclusive clear pink vinyl with gold flecks! It’s gorgeous and a perfect ray of light to counter the change of the seasons.

Darlingside recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary as a band, and their music has been described by NPR as “exquisitely-arranged, literary-minded, baroque folk-pop.” The New Yorker also compared them to David Crosby and The Byrds. We think our members will love this record with its lush harmonies and dense arrangements.

NEEDTOBREATHE – Out of Body

We offered our club members the newest record from South Carolina rock band NEEDTOBREATHE as our August 2020 Record of the Month on exclusive translucent tan vinyl.

Out of Body is the group’s seventh studio record. It’s a record that was made through reimagining their origins as a band, creating a “team atmosphere,” and the band “fell in love with [their] instruments again” during the writing and recording process. What results is a sweeping, rich record full of passionate performances and soulful songs, both stadium-sized and intimate.

Meet August 2020’s Artist Discovery – Ruston Kelly

We’re so happy to be able to offer our members the new album by singer/songwriter Ruston Kelly – Shape & Destroy – on exclusive bone-white vinyl for our August Artist Discovery add-on. The album is centered around Kelly’s experience achieving and maintaining sobriety, and confronting the issues that first led him down the path of drug abuse.

Of the recording experience for this record, Kelly says “I wanted to take the intensity of whatever it took to get me here and leave that splattered all over the wall…rather than telling the band how or what to play, I translated that intention to them to get us all on the same page, and the songs came together exactly the way I needed them to.”

Our July 2020 Record of the Month was Total Freedom, Canadian singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards’ newest album, and her first in eight years. Our members got this amazing record on exclusive silver vinyl!

Edwards enjoyed global success and inspired a whole generation of Americana artists before that was even a term. Could there be a Brandi Carlile or a Margo Price or a Jason Isbell without Kathleen Edwards? We’re not sure.

Magnolia Record Club Presents: The Moon River Sessions

June’s ROTM features an amazing compilation of artists who performed at 2018’s Moon River Music Festival in Chattanooga, Tennessee, pressed on exclusive blue and yellow splatter vinyl! The compilation recordings by Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, I’m With Her, Darlingside, Joseph, Judah and the Lion, The War and Treaty, Penny and Sparrow, CAAMP, Mandolin Orange, and Boy Named Banjo.

The Moon River Sessions were curated by Drew Holcomb and recorded by the Songbirds Foundation located in Chattanooga. The foundation provides educational programming and resources to emerging artists and kids in the area interested in learning about music, and a portion of the proceeds from these records benefit the foundation!

Meet The Wild Reeds, the Los Angeles band helmed by three powerful voices and songwriters: Sharon Silva, Mackenzie Howe, and Kinsey Lee. Their strong three-part harmonies, catchy hooks, and thoughtful songwriting have earned them a devoted fan following and support from outlets like NPR Music, Billboard, and more. Bassist Nick Phakpiseth and drummer Nick Jones round out the band, and their new album Cheers is sure to get you hooked on their music.
